About Harrah's Reno:
Located at 219 North Center Street, William F. Harrah originally opened what was called the Heart Tango casino on October 29, 1937. Over time, he acquired neighboring properties. By 1968, he acquired the Reno Grand Hotel. They had a showroom that hosted the same top headliners that appeared in Las Vegas. In 1999, Harrah's purchased the Nevada Club and Harold's Club, imploded them, and created an outdoor venue called the Plaza. In 2017, ownership was transferred to Vici Properties and was leased back to Caesars Entertainment.

January 2020, ownership is changing to CAI Investments of Las Vegas. Permanent closure of the Property is expected by October 2020.

In 1991, after the death of Sammy Davis Jr., the Headliner showroom was changed to Sammy's Showroom.
About William Harrah:
William F. Harrah (1911-1978) was a businessman and founder of Harrah's Hotel and Casinos. He worked at various family businesses in Southern California. One of the businesses included gambling called the Reno Game. In 1937, Harrah opened Harrah's Club Bingo in Reno, Nevada. It closed within a month. He later opened another business in the downtown area, with the help of some influential friends, which was more successful. In the 1950's, he expanded to the Lake Tahoe Area. In 1973, he purchased the Holiday Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. He died in 1978 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota at the age of 66 during a cardiac surgery operation to repair an aortic aneurysm. He was known for his influence to create the Nevada Gaming Control Board along with the Gaming Commission. He was also praised for his positive relations with both his customers and employees.
