The Las Vegas Club released Silver Strikes from 1998 - 2006. Casinos have a tendency to change their logos from time to time, especially when there is an ownership change. The "History of Logos" series shows the various logos used by the Las Vegas Club over the years. The interesting thing about this series is that ownership changed in the middle of the release. On March 25, 2004, Barrick Gaming purchased and began operating the Las Vegas Club, The Plaza, The Gold Spike, and The Western from long time Las Vegas casino owner, Jackie Gaughan for million.
There were 4 of 6 strikes issued with the

Las Vegas Club History:
The Las Vegas Club was at 18 East Fremont Street, corner of Main and Fremont in the Downtown Las Vegas area. The Overland Hotel was originally built at the site of the Las Vegas Club in the early 1900's. In 1930, the Las Vegas Club opened but was originally at the south side of Fremont Street (21-23 Fremont). The owner J. Kell Houssels Sr. eventually moved the Las Vegas Club to the site of the Overland Hotel (1949) and expanded the property.
Jackie Gaughan purchased the Las Vegas Club with two others in 1961. In 2004, Jackie sold the Las Vegas Club, Plaza and Gold Spike, and Western casino to Barrick Gaming (partners with Tamares Group). Ownership and operations began in March 2004.
In 2015, the Las Vegas Club was sold to Derek and Greg Stevens, owners of the nearby D and Golden Gate casinos. In August 2015, the Las Vegas Club closed and was demolished in 2017 along with the former Mermaids Casino and Glitter Gulch strip club to make way for a new resort called Circa Las Vegas. Opening is expected in 2020/2021.
Who is Jackie Gaughan?:
Jackie (John Davis Gaughan, Sr.) was a prominent casino owner and operator in the downtown area of Las Vegas since the 1950's. Although he had ownership interest in many casinos in Las Vegas, he is most well known for ownership in the Plaza, Las Vegas Club, El Cortez, and Gold Spike. He was from Omaha Nebraska and lived from 1920-2014.
Fun Fact:
Jackie lived at the El Cortez in his later years until he passed away at the age of 93.
