About the Nevada Landing Hotel & Casino in Jean, NV:
About 30 miles southwest of Las Vegas, on Interstate 15, is Jean, NV - a quick stopping point on the way to or from California in the Nevada desert. In 1987, three partners, who owned the original Gold Strike Hotel near Boulder City, NV opened the Gold Strike in Jean. Two years later, 1989, they opened a sister property called Nevada Landing on the opposite side of the freeway. It had 303 rooms with 35,000 sq. ft. of gaming space. It had a riverboat theme throughout. The three properties were bought out in 1995 by Circus Circus Enterprises (Mandalay Resort Group, MGM Mirage). Nevada Landing was closed and demolished to make way for a master planned
community in 2007. However, with the economic downturn, that did not materialize. The tall Nevada Landing sign along Interstate 15 was removed in 2010.
